Ceramic Roadrunner Plates by Tu Kaets Studios
Handcrafted exclusively for Pop Cycle, these gorgeous food-safe plates from Nathanael of Tu Kaets Studios feature stunning and dynamic hand-painted roadrunners! Grab a larger one with a roadrunner at rest, or a smaller plate with a roadrunner going full-tilt. Inspired by an illustration from his 97 year old neighbor, and very much in the style of vintage roadrunner artwork, these pieces are unique and timeless.
Each piece is hand formed, glazed, and warmed and dried by the desert sun before being fired.
Running plates measure approx. 4.5" x 11.5"
Resting plates measure approx. 6.5" x 10.5 "
Due to their handmade nature the exact size, shape, and design may vary slightly from the photo.
Nathanael Addison has been working with clay since 2005, and formed Tu Kaets Studios in 2012. “Tu Kaets” is the international phonetic alphabet spelling of “two cats," a name inspired by the original two cats that ‘inspected’ Nathanael's early pottery. His work is inspired by features of the Sonoran Desert, with pierced vessels that hint at the structure of cacti skeletons, and iron-rich red clay mugs that reflect Tucson's mineral-abundant landscapes. Tu Kaets reuses every scrap of clay, and repurposes unused glaze into new colors and textures. All pottery is dried and warmed in the sun before firing, to minimize breakage and reduce energy consumption.
