Mel “Melo” Dominguez is an artist and muralist from Los Angeles who has lived in Tucson since 2007. Melo’s artwork is a direct expression of his Chicano/a culture, and of political, social, and environmental issues, and has always directed his creativity toward activism and community outreach. In 2018 Melo and his wife Melissa opened Galeria Mitotera, a community art space and gallery in South Tucson, dedicated to celebrating their culture, the local community, and uplifting artists of color.
